The Midtown Association recently issued a press release informing that anyone selling at the Placer Grown Farmers Market at the Fountains in Roseville must now wear a face mask and disinfect their hands after every interaction. This new market provides the community with additional access to fresh food in an outdoor environment, and managers have taken extra steps to ensure social distancing is maintained. The coronavirus pandemic has caused an increase in business for farmers markets in the region, as people take refuge in their homes. Markets are grateful that their customers are buying local products and supporting their neighbors during these difficult times.
Although farmers markets have traditionally been places to meet and talk, now is the time to follow public health and safety recommendations and avoid staying and socializing. Farmers markets are considered essential food providers and have remained open despite the governor's stay-at-home order. However, if you are sick or have symptoms (such as a cough or fever) or if you belong to a high-risk group, do not go to the farmer's market. Always maintain a six-foot social distance while shopping and waiting in line at the farmer's market.
